More About Us

Accurate Machinery is a little different; sure the goal is to sell equipment, it is equally important to make sure the equipment you get is what you are expecting. I call my company Accurate Machinery because I intend to give my customers an accurate evaluation of the equipment I sell. If you are interested in a late model machine I try to make sure the machine was not abused and concealed by a new paint job and a replaced hour meter. Maybe you are interested in a piece that is less expensive and do your own repair work, then I will try to identify the repairs needed.

I planned a career in the automotive service business. I started with lawn mower and chain saw repairs. I moved on to Honda Motorcycle repairs, an activity that still interests me. I obtained an Associates degree in Automotive Technology with emphasis in engine and transmission rebuilding. I worked for automotive dealers and received training from Nissan, BMW and Saab.

In 1986 I was offered a job selling new heavy construction equipment; namely Kobelco, JCB, Trail King, Hydra-Mac as well as used equipment from Caterpillar, John Deere, Case and numerous other makes. I was reasonably successful, learned a lot about the machinery, and won several awards for salesmanship.

My boss suggested that I try the wholesale level of machinery. I had the mechanical background and knew a lot of the dealers from my training days. I found my niche. I sold machinery to dealers and discovered that I had repeat business. Dealers found that they did not have to come and see the machine; I would give them a very accurate description of the machine and save them the expense and time of travel. Some of the dealers would even have their work order ready for the shop to do the work that I deemed necessary as soon as the machine arrived. I started my business Accurate Machinery LLC in February of 1997 and have been catering to dealers ever since.

Now I have been stocking machinery that still mostly goes to dealers but is available to the public. You can get an appraisal on a machine so that you will know what the machine will need as soon as it hits your yard. If I know, you will know. When you call a shop to have a man check over a machine for you or with you, I am that man.

Operating Principals

  1. I use the phrase "the worst first" - you call about a machine I will give you the details about what is wrong with the machine. You cannot assume anything about a piece of construction equipment; even a late model machine may have been abused in its short life. My position is to let you know what repairs that machine is needing now or may need in the near future if I can determine it.
  2. Performance Appraisal - When I operate the machinery I try to fully load test the machine, digging, stalling, lifting, braking and loading. Did you ever have an owner kick you off of a machine because you were stall testing a torque converter against the brakes? I have more than once said that if I couldn’t test it, then I wouldn’t buy it.
  3. Honesty pays - I haven’t lost any friends or customers because the machine turned out to be misrepresented. Sure I make mistakes, but I do it honestly. I have over 60 dealers in 22 states that you can call for a reference if you need one.

Thus the name: Accurate Machinery, LLC

Thus the motto: Used Construction Equipment, Accurately Represented
